While resting during my workout this morning (yep, got up early again, loving this new time so far) I was counting the days I have left of the LiveFitTrainer….I can’t believe it but in 9 workouts I’ll be finished! It feels so great to have come this far already and can’t imagine how good I’ll feel when I’m finished.
But while I’ve loved this program, I am eager to be able to do my own thing and have a more flexible schedule for a little while. I keep going back and forth like a crazy person about how I want to schedule my workouts while keeping both results and family time at a maximum level.
I’m fairly certain that I’m going to drop down to 5 days. It’s summer, there is a lot we want to do as a family and I feel like I’ve missed a lot of time the past few months.
I’m going to keep with the weights over cardio. I’ll still do cardio but it won’t be my main focus. I’m going to try and do a 3 or 4 day split with weights and probably 15-20 minutes of cardio after 2 of those days, and if my husband has his way I’ll be doing a Crossfit workout [at least] once a week with him. If I have weeks where I have the time I will definitely add a 6th workout in and I will leave that day open for whatever I feel like at that time. Probably yoga or take a class at the gym. I love the kickboxing and the CX Works at my friend’s gym!
I found that I do much better on a schedule so I will try and be as strict as possible and hopefully I won’t slack off. I’ve also found that I stick to the schedules that other’s set for me way better than I do my own. That is why I have decided to do James Wilson’s program later in the summer. Everything I have read about it has been so positive. A bunch of the bloggers that I follow either have done it, are doing it, or plan on doing it! That’s what I love about this social network of fitness people, I probably never would have known about this program otherwise…it’s so great to get ideas from people and be able to learn from their experiences as well!
I had no plans on doing this program since he has not yet finished the “At Home” version; however, I spoke with James and he informed me that my basement gym had enough equipment to adequately complete the program. I was also concerned about the length of the workouts and he told me that they start at 4 days, then go to 5 per week and workouts average about an hour. That was great news. Again, I loved loved LiveFit, but I’m just not able to commit that much time anymore. So I’m really excited. If you guys are interested in James’ program, you can check it out here on his Facebook page James Wilson – Faith, Family & Fitness.
I’ll post my new plan if and when I finally figure out what I’m going to do for the next few weeks!

I’m still only in phase one of the LiveFit program, but so far I’m really enjoying it! However, I’ve been anxious about the carb-cycling to come in phase three, and your posts have been really helpful as I’m thinking about what diet choices I’ll make when it comes time. But I have some of the same concerns that you seem to have- will I not see the expected results if I don’t do this to lean out?
How have you felt about the program as far as gaining lean muscle without the carb cycling? I have similar goals to you- I’m not looking to lose weight, just change my body composition!
Hi Sophie! Yes, that’s correct. It’s very likely that you will not “lean out” as much if you do not carb cycle but should you choose to skip that part as long as you hit the workouts hard, do the HIIT and keep your nutrition on point you will definitely still get lean! I don’t notice it as much on myself but my clothes
As far as the muscle, yes, I noticed some increased muscle for sure. Not as much as most though I think, because I’ve done the whole program at home so I’ve been limited in some respects.
My advice would be to really look at your fitness goals and the pros and cons of carb cycling and do whatever you feel works best for you!
