I hope everyone had a great weekend! I had off today so we could take our kids to the Science Center so I’m thrilled to have an extra night to get some cooking done for the week ahead since I didn’t get too much done this weekend.
We were at a post-4th of July party at our friends house all day Saturday, Sunday we tried to get a little done around the house, my husband got his run in (in 750 degree weather) and my 6 year old did legs with me! She was so cute, I finally let her try all of our machines in the basement and put 2 1/2 lb. plates on for her. She put her little Reebok “workout outfit” on and was soo excited! She said that leg extensions were her favorite! She hung with me the whole workout 4 sets of 8 (except for lunges) for 5 exercises but bailed without finishing all the lunges, I figured I’d better cut her some slack! I was so proud of her and it was really cool spending that time with her and seeing her interested in something that’s become such a big part of my life! (Now I promise, this was totally safe. I was holding the bars the whole time I just cropped myself out of the photo b/c I looked awful). The workout we did is posted on the workout page.
Later that day when I was doing my weekly “banana prep” I realized how happy I’ve been since I’ve started doing it so I though I’d post the tip. Now I don’t have too many tips, but there are definitely some things I started doing that has made my life easier so I wanted to share one of my favs!
Dunno how it works in your house, but I’m pretty sure I live with a house full of monkeys! In more ways than one. I can buy 7 dozen bananas and I swear, three days later they are all gone! It’s so annoying, and it especially seems to happen when I just finished a crazy workout and all I want is a measly half of a banana for my PWO shake.
Since I almost always add a half of a banana to my PWO shake and they were always disappearing so fast I decided to start stealing them first! It’s been working out perfectly. Every time I do the shopping, I set 3-4 bananas aside and peel and cut them all in half. Then I slice them and put them in little snack bags and freeze them. Then when I make my shakes I just throw one in there and I don’t even need ice! Perfect shake every time:)

what a smart thing to do with your bananas. I have been starting to be so much better about using all the food I buy, buying in bulk and preparing ahead to save money. It is crazy how paying for your own groceries changes your mentality around food.
It really is! It’s such a great way to prep too if you can find the time since it always saves time down the road!
I love frozen bananas. I even blend them up in faux banana fro-yo
Sounds like this banana ice cream I posted before on Instagram…yum!
Your banana tip is going to help me out so much! I can’t eat them fast enough and they go bad, but I pretty much only use them in my breakfast smoothie, so this idea is perfect! Thanks!
I’m so glad you will find it useful! Yes, and I’ve read before that you should really eat them before they are really ripe!
Wow! So proud of your little princess! Also the banana idea is brilliant. I live with a bunch of monkeys as well.
Ha! She was so proud of herself! Thanks, and yes, you do
