Superbowl Sunday is right around the corner, another excuse to stuff our faces, drink lots of booze and get rowdy! I’ve been seeing lots of “healthified” recipe ideas for Superbowl floating around the blogosphere lately so I thought I’d like some of them today for a one-stop-shop to your healthy party planning! So read on for lots of healthy Superbowl recipes!
One of my favorite apps of all time is spinach dip!! Here is a clean version from The Gracious Pantry. My friends and I have made this a few times and it is a tasty substitute for the full-fat version! No grease and is good hot or cold! I might add artichokes and a little low fat shredded mozzarella this time!
I will also be making my Quinoa Pizza Bites, of course, I told you it’s my “go to” for every party!
One of my very favorites is Buffalo Chicken Dip…one day I’m determined to attempt a clean (er) version of it…hopefully in the near future, but in the meantime, check out Frugal Fitness’s video on how to make healthy buffalo chicken bites!
I’m also tossing around the idea of making Jamie Eason’s Turkey Meatloaf Muffins but BITE-SIZED! I mean, c’mon…everything tastes better bite-sized!!! Am I right??? Here is herrecipe. You can make them in mini-muffin tins instead and serve with some sort of dipping mustard! I’ll probably go with a mixture of Dijon and low-sugar honey mustard!
A big comforting pot of soup is always a winner on a cold and windy day (I’m in PA)….whip up a batch of turkey chili with quinoa. You can make it early and let it cook all day in the crockpot and add some quinoa right before the party starts!
I personally LLLLLOOOOVVVEEEE guacamole…One of my favorite party snacks! But, I know there are a lot of people who don’t care for it (weirdos) just kidding (no I’m not). If you, or your guests are one of those weirdos people than Chocolate Covered Katie has a great alternative that is also much lower in fat! Try her Avocado-free guacamole instead made with asparagus!
Another very easy dish is my Clean Sloppy Joes! This literally take ten minutes, if that, to make and again, you can just keep it in a crockpot! Serve on any kind of bread/roll that your guests prefer.
And now for my favorite….DESSERTS
As I have pictured above Key Lime Cheesecake bars are always a big hit! Jamie Eason posted two new-ish recipes lately and they both sound droolworthy! Honey Almond Protein Crisps and Frosted Coconut Protein Cupcakes, I can’t wait to make these!
Some Easy PB Power Bites can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. Dip them in chocolate for an extra sweet treat!!
Or some good old fashioned Clean Oatmeal Cinnamon Raisin cookies from He & She Eat Clean. That’s all the ideas I have for you today…hopefully you can pick through and find a few that will complement your Superbowl menu! I know I’ll be indulging in un-healthy options as well since there will be just too much temptation for me! Picky foods are my downfall!! I know bad food and Superbowl seem to go hand in hand, but a great host or hostess will always offer a few healthy options as well to suit everyone! Happy Superbowl
